Touchdown Thailand! 105th Country and Counting.

Touchdown Thailand! 105th Country and Counting

This is truly a Kingdom of spectacular silk, smiles, spicy yet sweet culture. This is my 105th country at 27 and only the 4th country I have unraveled in Asia and my 1st out of the country trip with my boyfriend, Ian.

Despite of having been almost everywhere on the globe, Bangkok remained to be the most memorable of all my trips considering the thrill of learning new things, gaining new friends, and embracing the culture as if your own.

Just like the Philippines, busy streets welcome us in Thailand as it is a bustling bargain shopping district filled with budget cheap hotel rooms. Assorted foods from the local market to international fast food chains made our stay even more pleasurable especially for my partner, Ian who has a bottomless pit. We did indulge ourselves with the world of spiciness as we tried different Thai cuisines with its herbs, spices and lots of leaves on every menu. Blending elements of several Southeast Asian traditions, Thai cooking places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components.

Next stop, we just can’t resist the good finds and cheap buys as we go loco on our first shopping day.Nevertheless, in the place called Pratunam is a mini Divisoria where haggling is the norm of market and road-side vendors. Thailand is truly a bargain hunter's paradise where me and Ian spent most of our time with. From antiques, bags and luggage, clothing, fabrics, gold, jewelry, lacquerware and wood carvings..you name it, they have it!

Finally, the Ian & Rheena tandem would not be complete without adventure. Amazing sights in Bangkok that we recommend:
1.the Buddhas  and Temples that took a huge part in the Kingdoms history,
2.the exotic animal shows including the Elephant playing soccer, a man’s fight against the King Cobra, the shocking alligator show,
3. our ride with Elephant Nun,
4. the skyscraping Baiyoke Tower on its 88th floor,
5. and our tourist trail after the Bond films as we had an experience of their floating market. These and a lot more must not be missed on your stop to Thailand.

It was definitely an Amazing Thailand with my Amazing Ian! And I certainly can't wait to unravel more Asian countries soon...and take Ian for more exciting adventures in the future (",)
